Charlie Cunningham signs to Dumont Dumont
We are delighted to announce that London-based songwriter Charlie Cunningham has signed to Dumont Dumont for his third EP Heights, which will be released early next year.
Previous releases from Charlie Cunningham feel very British yet feature a distinct latin flavour, transporting the listener to Andalusia where he lived & wrote for two years and regularly returns. Cunningham’s songs are laden with delicate flourishes, intricate melodic turns and moments of stark introspection – both expansive and intimate.
To celebrate the signing, Charlie just shared an excellent non-official video for Lessleg, that was sent to him by a fan. The song is from his most recent EP Breather, released on Kissability in March and now re-released on Dumont Dumont.
This video was directed by fans Daniel Fuchs & Thalia Killer and features German athlete Lukas Kohl, European champion of Art Cycling in 2013 and 2014 – gracefully riding his bicycle in a dark room.
“beautiful, yet honest song-writing with such percussive guitar playing that he truly stands out from the crowd.” – The Line Of Best Fit
“It wanders into your head with its charm and likeability but leaves you stunned with how it envelopes you in its warmth.” – The 405
Dumont Dumont is a record label based in Stockholm, founded in 2013 by Magnus Bohman, the co-owner of Imperial Recordings (home of José González). Dumont Dumont’s first signing was RY X, from Australia with his EP Berlin, followed by releases from Novo Amor & Ed Tullett, Apidae and Lisa Alma.
Speaking about signing Charlie, Bohman explains: “I just could not defend myself against such great songs and his strong voice. They stayed with me wherever I went”.
